About Me

Given my passion for learning about the human brain, my natural ability to listen and understand people, my desire to help others, and my own experiences as a client in therapy, I knew from a young age that I wanted to be in the mental health field as a therapist. I received my Bachelor's Degree in Social Work with a minor in Psychology from the University of Kansas, followed by my Master’s Degree in Clinical Social Work from the University of Kansas.

I have worked as a therapist in a variety of settings throughout and following my education. I have worked with adolescents and adults who struggle with eating disorders, substance abuse, depression, anxiety disorders, self-harm behaviors and personality disorders. I also have experience with traumatic brain injuries, youth in poverty, and children in the child welfare system.

My Practice

My focus has always been to work from a strengths-based perspective, which concentrates on the natural strengths of individuals, families, and couples to aid recovery and empowerment. I also practice using the systems perspective, which involves looking at thoughts, feelings, and behaviors as they relate to the environment around them. Using these perspectives, the different aspects of an individual’s life can be strengthened and balanced to create more fulfilling relationships and increase mental and physical wellbeing.

Mental health is a key element in living a happy and productive life. Having experienced its benefits firsthand, I have seen how therapy can improve relationships with the self, relationships with others, physical health, and the overall quality of life. That’s why I am so passionate about what I do.

Life is an adventure. I can only wonder what treasure awaits at the top of the path.”
